A Fad That Could be Dangerous to Children
An appeal for parents not to display their children’s names on a sign in their vehicles.
I’m not the kind of person who goes along with fads and truth be told, I sometimes don’t even notice them. But there is a fad going on right now that disturbs me.
Maybe it’s because I’ve read too many mystery and horror novels, but the idea of putting your child’s name on the back of your car is scary.
Think about it.
If you’re in a mall parking lot and a sexual predator happens to be behind you, he would be thrilled to death to see that your kids are named Jessica and Adam.
Here’s a chilling scenario.
Jessica gets out of the car to meet grandma in the mall and the predator is right there. He yells out her name and of course, she looks back.
How much easier it is for the predator to get her in his car if he knows her name – I mean, children are told to beware strangers, but how can this man be a stranger if he knows her name?
I see cars every day with this information proudly displayed – a megaphone that says Jessica, a baseball with Adam printed on it, etc.
I’m sure you’ve seen them too and may even have some, but have you ever given thought to what I just mentioned?
If your darling daughter came up missing and you had her name printed on the back of your car, would the police be more inclined to help you than someone without the decal? You never know, but I say let’s don’t give the criminals a helping hand.
Let’s do what we can to dissuade them and to protect our children.
Take those decals off your cars. Please.

I agree!!! This is very upsetting to me to.
So many parents are not awake at what can happen.
