A General Cure for the Hiccups
My simple and effective cure for the hiccups.
What I have discovered about hiccups is that they are nothing more than your body’s reaction to too much carbon dioxide.
What you should do is:
- Slowly and calmly breathe-in until you fill your lungs to capacity.
- Next you slowly exhale until you can exhale no more.
- Then of course, slowly and calmly breathe-in again (but not quite to capacity) and hold it for five seconds.
- You then exhale and breathe normally.
It doesn’t matter if you happen to hiccup while doing this, just continue.
Don’t worry if it doesn’t work the first time, it should by the second. But you must remember to slowly inhale and exhale, doing it too fast can increase your hiccup rate.
In addition, if you feel overly light-headed, wait a few minutes before trying again.
