A New Year
Prepare for the New Year.
Pray for world peace. Things don’t look so good out there. Wars, poverty, murder, hunger, depression, unemployment, financial troubles, inflation, divorce, natural disasters, and the list goes on. Look to find peace within yourself and for your neighbor who has experienced troubles in the past year.
Bring 2009 in safely, if you are out at a party, do not drink and drive. Many deaths happen due to the cause of someone driving under the influence. Don’t let alcohol take your life or your friends.
Make wise resolutions that can benefit you and your family. Don’t go on starvation diets, these can cause very serious health problems. There are safe and effective ways to diet along with professional counseling. The yellow pages can offer a lot of information on diet clinics. There are even places that may offer free diet programs. Be concerned about your health.
In this fastlane of a modern world, people tend to overlook the importance of God. He does work miracles. Include God in your day even if it is just a few minutes.
Learn to manage or control your stress level. In todays society stress leads to health risks of hypertension, strokes, heart conditions, anxiety, depresion, suicide, and the list is long. Talk to family and friends about your stress or seek help from medical professionals. Many crisis counseling numbers are free.
It is a bad economy. Rough on people who live on tight budgets, or low incomes. Donate your things that you would usually throw out to the needy. The Salvation Army, Goodwill, American Red Cross accepts donations. They provide basic needs to those who are in need of help. Make a difference in a life. Be generous.
Remember your military. Some service men and women did not come home for the holiday. Some will never return. These are the people who make it possible for you to live with freedom. These are the people who protect your country and you. Your holiday meal was graceful. They are the ones who made it possible.
As writers you have the easy opportunity to send a message to the world. Make your message a good one. Set goals for the new year ahead. Achievement is a great reward. Often, true experiences lead to great articles. Value your abilities. Cherish your gift of writing. There are great possibilities and a whole new year to make them happen.
