A Tool That You Can Use in Everyday Life for Everyday Situations

I mentioned the word feel in the last article, which is what we are all chasing. So can we control how we feel? If so, how would you choose to feel everyday?

So lets look at that, can you control how you feel? See what I am saying is you can only manage how you feel oppose to control. When someone gets you angry, acknowledge and get angry. Every emotion you experience is merely a signal that you are getting in relation to what you want and stand for in life. Now you may be saying hold on that is easier said than done. Of course, changing a pattern of behaviour that you may have had over many years will take some practice.

I talked about a tool that you can use in everyday life so let’s talk about that. When someone is depressed what is the usual physiology? Head down, shoulders inwards and looking down. These are common features, so let me ask you a question:

Who controls your physical body?

Try this, put your shoulders back, your chest out and raise your chin up so you are looking down your nose. Can you be depressed in that position? Well yes you can, however it is harder to be depressed with that physiology. So that means that your physiology contributes to how you feel. This is something you can control.

Next is this statement “your bank account is half empty or half full” which one sounds better?
Both are talking about the same amount except one has a better sound and a better feeling. So who controls what you say? This means that your language also contributes to how you feel. This is something you can control.

Finally we can witness an event and all have different representations. Let’s look at the word representation, break it down how you represent an event to yourself. How you see it will be unique to you. Its rare two people will have the exact same perspective on the same thing. So who controls how you see the event? Is it possible to make every event work in your favour? Of course, you choose how you see everything. The word is perspective and this is best described as seeing things from a place where you are not.

So the moral the story is we can control three contributing factors to how we feel so it then means we can choose everyday in every moment, with practice of course. See you next time for “emotions the most powerful force on the planet” and why they are so important.
