Accounting is No Joke
Accounting is not my first choice. I thought it could be easy for me because I love Math. But I was wrong. I should have known it before I decided to go for it. However, I was late.

Thank God I survive and I’m still alive in this course. I’m taking up my 2nd summer in BSA. I have no accounting subject in my summer class. Yet, I have to study it for Student Qualifying Examination (SQE), which will be on April 23, 2009. Please pray for me.
Two years ago, during enrollment, the line of enrollees for BSA was very, very long. I took 2 days to finish the enrollment. While I was on the line, I heard that there was no line in other courses and it was easier to enroll. But what made me convinced to stick with the line was there was no one-to-one interview in Accountancy, unlike other courses. I was too shy to answer the interview on that time.
I had no friends at my first day in College. As the days passed, I had known some of my classmates and we became friends and “cheat mates”.
I was surprised when I heard the words “debit” & “credit” from my professor. I had never heard these because I had no accounting class in high school. My life went on and on until I found myself copying my classmates’ answers on assignments.
I felt frustrated when I excel in minor subject but I get low grades in Accounting. I hope this is not the sign for me to shift the course.
Midterm and Final Examinations really test how studious and intelligent you are. These require analysis on what to compute, on what should be added, subtracted, multiplied, and divided. You will have sleepless nights on reviews and you will spend less time for having fun. Believe me, memorization is not essential here. Analysis is a must.
I’m still fighting for my life here. Whatever happens, it is because of God’s plans. If CPA is my profession, we’ll find out after the SQE and in the coming years.
To all fresh graduates who want to take Accountancy, please, take it seriously. It’s really hard to study this broad subject. Make sure you’re hardworking and strong enough to pass this course. Good Luck!
