Activate Your Learning Ability
Here are a few simple suggestions to help you improve your learning abilities.
We are a nation overloaded with information. So many new things are thrown at us that we need to learn and remember that it becomes overwhelming. In our fast paced world here are a few tips that will help us accelerate our learning skills.
We normally think of learning as studying books but we can train our minds to learn as we go about our every day lives. For example we can watch a video on furniture refinishing while doing household chores or exercising. The subconscious takes in oodles of information even while we focus on another project.

Keep a notebook and write down what you want to remember. If it is something you must remember for school or your job, write it down ten times. Writing the word helps and writing a sentence using the word reinforces the process. You can take it further and write posted notes and stick them on the bathroom mirror, kitchen cabinets, and other convenient places where they will catch your eye. The same goes for birthdays and other important dates.
If there is a word that is especially difficult for you, try making a little poem or phrase using the word. I had difficulty remembering the pronunciation of the word “carotid” some time ago and I pictured an old broken down car and the phrase, “car rotted,” I have had no trouble with the word since. These seemingly small things are the reinforcements you need to give you a hand hold.
To improve your word vocabulary make a tape of you reading words and their definitions. You can play it back while walking, working out at the gym, driving, or doing chores around the house. It’s a good way to build mental fitness while building physical fitness.

Daily meditation and daily exercise will improve your learning abilities and your concentration.
Try not to obsess over your studies but keep a clear mind and be confident of you success. That’s half the game plan right there.

Posted notes around for a word? Thanks but i find it too much
The real truth is that i have a problem with grammar. We have 6 different ‘i’ here and some different ‘o’ and ‘e’. It’s all Greek to me sometimes.
Thanks, Chris

Lots of good ideas here–although I’m afraid “writing 10 times” is a little too time consuming for my schedule. Taping things is a good idea, however. I used to take a tape recorder to my lectures in college. I still took notes, but the tape helped get past the stuff I had jotted so fast I couldn’t read it–and the notes helped get past places were the recorder distorted or didn’t correctly pick up sound.

Thanks ma’am Ruby for such a nice advice which I for one has to consider this, lol. Ever since I never had that attitude of taking down notes but you made such a good point though. Think I have to consider your advice for now. More particularly that my memory isn’t that as good when I was still in college.
Nice post!

Never lose interest in learning something new. See? Even this article taught me something.
When I was in school, I knew I wanted to be a writer. So what I did was: every time I had an essey or report to do, I made sure I included at least two new words to increase my vocabulary.

Thanks to everyone, I appreciate your kind attention. We never get too old to learn and it’s the thing that makes us human.
Chris, I read your articles and I know you make very few mistakes. I can’t say the same for myself.
Cchristine, you don’tknow the half of it.Sometimes I can’t put a name to a face that I know perfectly well. Hours later it will pop up. Well, we do the best we can.
