Focus

The writer’s topic is  ’Cultural aspects of society’as such it has a focus, but what are the most interesting aspects which are attractive enough to be preserved in words.

Culture encompasses ‘Literature’ as ‘everything that has  ever been written ‘ is called Literature’ but in focus’ it means ‘beautiful writing’.

‘Beautiful Writing should not be aimless.

Writing must give something valuable to the reader

Writing is either for ‘information’ ‘entertainment’ ‘record’ ‘examination’ or ‘persuasion’.Sometimes it is a combination of two of these forms.’What is valuable then comes in the category of ‘Information’

And here we shall take a piece out of the family records and see what valuable content we can take out.

Night Time Travel Through Sindh Province of Pakistan

Dinner at a road side Hotel usually a stopover for drivers of Goods trucks and long vehicles.The cultural tradition is to sit on wooden beds known as ‘charpouys’ woven with jute.Blankets and pillow aptly provided.

Water served in a pot fixed on an iron locally made stand with a holder on the side for the glass.The glass itself is made of stainless steel.In the background one can see the cooking range made of bricks , large size pots and the name of the Hotel displayed in the national language as ‘A-1 Driver’s Hotel’

Freshly cooked Chicken Masala and Roti’ 

Freshly cut and cleaned chicken was cooked there and then while the family rested. The clang clang of the cooking spoon could be heard all the time and soon the aroma sailed across the sandy yard and touched the appetite.

‘It is safe here, no problem of any kind was encountered, no dacoits’ The year 1984. Perhaps one could travel safely then.

Simple hospitality

The local people of Sindh were kind and very hospitable.There was milk for the child where ever the family stopped. The hotel itself was a dwelling of two rooms built near a few trees and lit by a tube light.

Cultural Gifts

The cultural gifts offered were love kindness care and a most memorable peaceful dinner ‘in the open’

What else can a free country best offer to its citizens? brotherhood of faith as humankind is the same all over the world.
