Are you busy bee? Or are you just a lazy drone? If you are busy bee, then are you busy doing all the right things? Whatever it is that you are doing, remember that it should activate your mind and help you to grow into an intelligent and healthy human being.
If your mind is idle and you sit around doing nothing, then soon it will become rusty. You might even lose your ability to think and reason. Your mind is like your bicycle. If it is kept oiled and in perfect running condition, it will never let you down.
The mind is busy when it takes in information. It is busy when it analyses information, and reasons with it. A mind that is occupied, even manufactures information. The mind is your “think tank’’. Always keep it filled with information and good ideas.
All this, however, requires a great deal of concentration. The busier the mind, the deeper the concentration must be. You must concentrate while studying, reading or performing any activity for which you are using your mind. But, if your thoughts begin to wander, then your mind has ceased to busy. A mind that hops around from one thing to another, without really taking in anything, is not busy.
Can you concentrate on a book if you suddenly begin to think of the lovely holiday you spent at a mountain resort? Can you keep your mind on any work if you are only thinking of that tree outside your house, that you would love to climb?
These are the years to develop the habit of keeping your mind usefully occupied.
When your mind is busy, it has little time for worry. Just as idleness rusts the mind, worry eats it way.
Winston Churchill was once asked, if he ever got worried. His reply was, “ I have so much work to do that I do not have the time to worry’’. Instead of worrying about whether you will complete your revision or not, just get down to revising.
