An Eight-Minute Refresher

Give yourself a refreshing overhaul in just under eight minutes.

We’ve all been through it. You’re out in public, at a friends house or a boy/girl-friends house and you noticed that you just felt out of place, uncomfortable, and totally discusting. If you have ever experienced this type of situation and would like to avoid this situation in the future, here’s what you can do.

Hit the bathroom and freshen up. No big feat, but a productive one. 8 minutes in the bathroom can make all the difference in the world to you and how you feel. If you aren’t at anyones house and just driving around, you can stop at the nearest gas station and use the bathroom there. Some of my methods can seem a little strange, but all play an important role in elevating your mood and giving your body a refreshing boost.

How I found out about these methods was totally by accident. I was running around town paying bills and picking up some things from a friends house and I had gotten a late start, so I didn’t have enough time to shower and get ready that morning. An hour or two after I started I felt worn down and was just about to give up and go home, when I remembered the bag I had left in the car when I had spent a couple nights over at my parents house a week before. I was just looking for my vitamins and energy supplements, when I glanced in the mirror and noticed that my hair was a total mess and I had some dirt on my face from moving some boxes out of a friends basement. So, I immediately headed for the nearest convenient store and borrowed the restroom key. Once inside I brushed my hair and washed my face and took my vitamins and energy supplements. Seeing the other contents of my bag I used them as well to freshen up. When I was done I felt so much better. I wasn’t tired anymore, I was in a better mood, and I felt like finishing up with what I was trying to get done that day. From that day on I have kept a travel bag in my car with the items below, in it.

First purchase a small travel bag with a zip closure. Inside your bag carry the following; a colapseable toothbrush, dental floss, a small bottle of mouthwash, a comb or brush, a package of gum or breathmints, visine, a couple Q-tips, 2 ziplock baggies, a wash cloth, a small pill box with vitamins and supplements, a small bottle of parfume or cologne, a small bar of anti-bacterial body soap, travel deodorant, and a clean pair of socks. The above items can be purchased in travel size containers.

Once in the bathroom, empty the contents of your bag onto the counter and begin. Start by taking your vitamins and supplements, then floss and brush your teeth with your mouthwash. Next, using your wash cloth, wash your face, ears, neck, and if needed take off your shirt and wash your upper body and arms. Put visine in your eyes. Wet a Q-tip with water and clean your ears. Use your deodorant and a little parfume or cologne. Now take off your shoes and socks and wash your feet with the soap in your bag, dry them, and put on your clean socks and shoes. Last but not least, don’t forget to comb or brush your hair. Put your items back in your bag, and you’re done, and on your way, feeling refreshed and ready to tackle the impossible.
