Are They or Aren’t They? Part 2

Self help guide.

If I had followed the drug worker’s instructions, sure I would have had to endure three days of ‘cold turkey’, but on the day that my treatment started, it would have started smoothly, instead of me suffeing the violent withdrawal that I did. Subutex, works quite quickly (effects can be felt within 10 minutes of administration) and what it did to me was stop the withdrawal; stop my craving for heroin; and make me feel completely ‘normal’. I could not believe how a tablet could make me feel normal after all of the drugs I had abused, and having come through treatment and become clean by detoxing on Subutex, I am an advocate of it as a workable treatment  for heroin addiction.

Most addicts already know that there are two main treatments for heroin addiction: Subutex and Methodone. In the past few years I have also heard of another treatment that has been developed for this condition. Its name is Suboxone. Suboxone contains the main ingredient of Subutex (Buprenorphine) plus another ‘blocker’ called Naltraxone. Ever since I had known about Methodone, I had known of addicts who were being prescribed, and actually taking Methodone, and using heroin alongside it. Then, when Subutex came around in around 2000, I heard people talk of its ‘blocking’ qualities. What this means is that once a person has taken Subutex, if they then try to smoke heroin, then the heroin has no effect atall. That is the blockage. So straight away, I determine that Subutex is a better drug if you wish to quit, because once you have taken it, you cannot smoke heroin…..brilliant! I have not personally taken Suboxone, but I have heard of its qualities as a remedy for heroin addiction and have watched the lectures on SuboxoneTalkzone.com and I am convinced of its strength as a treatment for heroin addiction.
