Are You Holding Yourself Back?
Description of ways in which we hold ourselves back in life.

Have you ever wondered why you can’t seem to succeed? Does it appear that nothing you do seems to work out? Let’s explore how you hold yourself back.
One of the ways in which you hold yourself back is by the negative messages you may be sending out to yourself. “I can’t, I am not good enough, strong enough, tall enough….” Or you may be one of those who gets caught up in the past, who does not live in the present moment. You have a story from the past which you replay which only cements your feelings of not being good enough, strong enough, tall enough…etc.
Another way of holding yourself back is by constantly looking to the future. When I get the promotion I can do more or have more. You do not realize that the end does not always justify the means. When you look to the future for more or better you are not spending the time now that you need to with family or friends. In your desire to create something wonderful for a future moment you don’t see the hurt or pain you may be causing yourself or those around you. You bring a certain amount of negativity into your world. This in turn stops you from being truly happy now, and if you are not happy now you won’t be in the future.
Are you one who believes you are dependant on what happens to be happy? If you are you need to realize that things change constantly and what happens is very unstable and unpredictable. There may be times when you resist what is happening and fight it at all costs. In this way you create drama not peace. “What you resist persists”.
You may also be a reactive individual believing you want peace and then something happens and you become angry, frustrated, or anxious. You accuse, attack, or blame others for what has transpired instead of dealing with it in a calm fashion. “Let it be” or “This too will pass” may be good things to remember. In this way you will stop your resistance, you won’t pollute yourself or your world with negativity, and you will open yourself up the true possibilities.
