Are You Unhappy with Something at The Place Where You Work or Study? What Changes or Improvements, Do You Think, Should be Made?
Are you unhappy with something at the place where you work or study? What changes or improvements, do you think, should be made?I’m a designer who has been working since 1998 for the Quality Control Department of a Korea-based representative office specializing in garment export. Generally speaking, I have nothing to complain about the rep. office where I work as a designer. It’s a well-equipped and comfortable establishment.
However, my duty involves a weekly visit to a garment factory where the designed clothes are made. In the view of a “white collar”, I think the workers there don’t have good working conditions and the factory should carry out the following improvements:.
- The factory is located in an area with too much traffic. So the workers often get stuck by the traffic jam, especially in the morning rush hour. Worse than that, they have to suffer from all the noise coming from the main street traffic and the machines working. As a result, many of the workers easily have stress. They become tense and exhausted after a hard work day or after a shift.
- I’d like to mention is about the environmental pollution.Well, the factory was built many years ago and now it has become sub-standard with poor ventilation system for hundreds of workers. There are not enough fans, windows and lighting equipment. Besides, the machines are so old that they cause too much loud noise. In my opinion, the factory should be re-designed so that the workers could enjoy better working conditions.
- Last but not least, about the water supply and the drainage system of the factory, especially in the restrooms. I have to say that the restrooms don’t meet the hygienic requirements. There are not enough W.C for the number of workers and the restrooms always produce a terrible smell with the permanent presence of dirty water on the floors. I suppose all of them should be reconstructed in both quantity and quality.
- Another suggestion I’d like to make is that the management board as well as the authorities have to conduct environmental inspections regularly. In addition, medical check-up have to be done every 3 or 4 months to prevent and to treat professional and infectious diseases. In conclusion , I would say that a good working establishment like this will be convenient for not only factory workers but also office employees. If the factory has such improvements as I mentioned, I believe the productivity will be better.
Thank you for your listening.
