Be True to Yourself and to Others
Living a life that you can truly be proud of is not easy since you will have to start with being true to yourself and your beliefs. Read on to learn why being true in all dealings is important and what it will help you achieve.
Leading a truthful life is not easy. Speaking truth at all times is not possible for most of us, but it does have its rewards. Leading a truthful life means not only being truthful to others in what you say and what you do but it also means being true to yourself. Knowing your own values and beliefs and sticking by them at all times means being true to your self. When you are true to yourself you would be strong enough to stand and support yourself in any sticky situation and even though nobody else would support you it would not matter because you would have your own support.
When you are not true to yourself you would be either unsure of who you are as a person or you would not be strong enough to have full faith in yourself. Ask yourself how many times you have come across a situation where you trust someone else more to make decisions for you rather than yourself? The fact that you trust someone else more than yourself shows that you are unsure of yourself. Being sure of yourself begins with knowing yourself, when you know yourself better you can start building on that trust.
To lead a truthful life you must first begin by assessing yourself, observe all aspects of your life, know what your beliefs are and what your strengths and weaknesses are. When you know yourself completely you would automatically trust your own strengths and you would be aware of your weaknesses enough to try and work on them. Just knowing yourself would make you trust yourself better, and when you start trusting yourself you would grow stronger by the day to be able to stand by your decisions and beliefs.
If you cannot be true to yourself you cannot be true to others, not because you have malicious intentions but simply because you are confused about yourself. If you assess all your relationships, at home and at work you would realize that most of your relationships suffer when you are not truthful. Nothing can hurt a relationship more than lies.
To begin with making a few necessary changes in your life and starting your journey towards a more truthful life you could try a few of the suggestions listed below:
· Know who you are, and do not listen to anyone who tells you that you are not good as a person.
· Do not be arrogant, however; you must know your weaknesses too.
· If you are presented with a task or an activity that is against your principles do not do it, it might make the other person a little unhappy but you must be true to yourself.
· Always be truthful to others, it might get you in some uncomfortable situations but being truthful will always get you high scores from others in the long run.
· Being truthful doesn’t mean you have to be outright rude to others and tell them that they are fat or ugly, there’s a way to speak the truth in a nicer way without hurting anyone.
Being truthful to yourself will gain you the respect from not only others but also yourself, self respect is the most treasured asset that you can ever have.
