Beauty is Only Skin Deep
True beauty comes from the character that is deep within you. I’ve always believed that being beautiful is all about being real to yourself.

Media Messages
When you look at models or even at actresses, you may notice that they all look somewhat alike. Many of them have long, straight shiny hair, fair skin tone and skinny bodies. But where are the chubby girls? The dark girls? The girl with frizzy hair? Don’t you think it’s unfair that every slender girls, who only constitute a minute percentage of the total population of women make up the majority of who comes out in commercials, while larger-framed girls, who constitute a bigger portion of the population, have almost zero representation? The chubby girl is hardly ever cast as the one who catches the gorgeous men’s eye.
Then there’s the word “model” is supposed to be someone whom others follow or imitate–whether it’s in the way you look, act, talk, etc. If the mode we see in ads are the ones we’re supposed to imitate, then we’d all fit in one category. This is simple not reality! And personally, I wouldn’t want to live in a world where every one has a clone. Each person is different. Just think of all the different shades of color of people’s skin, hair and eyes; all the different shapes of faces and noses. There’s beauty in every single person on this earth, and that includes you and me.
You and I may never be chosen to walk down the runway, but it doesn’t make you any less beautiful or any less special. Sooner or later you’re realize that outer “beauty” isn’t the most important thing after all, it’s developing who you are on the inside that is much more important.
Maybe you go to school where everyday feels like a fashion show or a beauty pageant, and that both guys and girls alike judge you based on the way you look. Maybe you’re realizing how empty it all is under that surface “attractiveness.” That’s actually a good thing! Because when you finally realize how shallow this whole preoccupation with looks is, then you can get to what really matters in life.
We’re All Different!
All of us were born with different body types. Some girls (and guys!) where born with what is called a genetic predisposition to obesity. This simply means that your body has more tendencies toward becoming overweight than other people do, which you got from your parents or grandparents. It wasn’t anything that you wished for, but if you have it you can’t just wish it away either. You can’t change having that predisposition, but you can, however, develop the necessary habits in order to ensure that you stay healthy–such as regular exercise, smart food choices, etc.

I do prefer inner beauty. A pretty face only draws attention, but inner beauty holds the attention.

Very apt and inspiring piece. I think you should try hosting the next season of America’s Next Top Model. Lol. Being beautiful really have other connotations. A confident woman who is comfortable with who she is. Now that’s an idea of beautiful too. Nice write.

a MIND-BLOWING article and every word mentioned is 100% TRUE. inner beauty rules FOREVER. all the models have stone faces, neveer smiling and just walking up and down the ramp. most of them tragecally die anoerexic paying too much attention to thdir body. it’s the people who have body curviture and some fat that are the real beauties, mostly from inside as well as out! BRILLIANT!

So well said, far too much emphasis is put on looks rather than what’s inside, true beauty comes from within.

Absolutely, Many people who are the model of what society considers beautiful are really ugly people. And many plain people are really beautiful. I meet both every day.

If we could get our parents to teach us this concept of beauty at home. I think then and only then would our kids understand what it means to be beautiful. That word cause so much pain but we don’t have to get caught up in what others think about us. What do you think about you, thats the question. You are BEAUTIFUL conformed in the image of God. Don’t allow others to tell you what you should or should not look like, that is CRAZY. I feel sorry for those model, for they are caught up in a world that will only like them (not love) as long as they think they are beautiful. When there beauty runs out on them and they start getting old. Well, you know the rest. We have lost to many of our babies, young girls, daughter to what man thinks. Who will stand up for them?
Wonderful slice of info here, kinda makes you think
