Confidence Strategies You Can Use
No-fail strategies from those who know what self-esteem is all about.

Whether you’re asking for a raise or approval on a new project, image consultants say self -confidence gives you a competitive edge. “If you act as if you can do it, you will,” says Tina Santi Flaherty. Here’s what to do:
Strategy 1
“Believe that you’re confident for just 10 minutes,” says Jeanne Martinet, author of The Art of Mingling. This works because once you adopt self-assured body language, your subconscious accepts it, and your real confidence grows as a result.
Strategy 2
To get on the same wavelength as co-workers, listen to their word choices, then repeat them. “When someone hears you using the same words she uses, she feels you share her interests and values,” sasys Leil Lowndes, author of Talking the Winner’s Way: 92 Little Tricks for Big Business and Personal Relationships.
Strategy 3
Imagine yourself being promoted and congratulated for a job well done. According to Karen Salmansohn, author of How To Succeed in Business Without A Penis, this ego building exercise can lead to accomplishments.
Strategy 4
If you get an assignment that seems daunting, ignore your self-defeating inner voice and just doit. Most people don’t like leaving their comfort zone, but taking risks builds confidence. Says Barbara De Angelis, Ph.D., author of Confidence: Finding It And Living It, “Confidence comes from trusting yourself to act in spite of your fear.”
