Confident People

Learn your own confidence tricks.

A way to be socially successful.  Be an enthusiastic guest, and, take a genuine interest in other people.  Don’t try to be clever with opening lines, keep it simple.  Look people in the eye, and, invite others to join your group by smiling and making space for them.

If you can’t remember,  someones name, just be honest.  No one minds,  because it happens to everyone.  Make physical contact with people.  Touch their arm lightly,  to make a point or shake their hand.  It’s easier to create intimacy,  and,  make people  feel at ease with touch.

Make a good entrance.  Take a moment to pull yourself up, iron out your facial expression, relax, smile and walk in confidently.  Pause,  when you get in the room and take everyone in with a sweep of your eyes.  Greet anyone you walk past, even if they don’t reply.  Don’t stare at people when they speak to you.  Avoid denial gestures, as you speak,  such as dismissive shrugging, hand-flapping or eye-rolling.

Don’t sit down at parties, stand up and move around.  Charrismatic people project their energy to others.  Avoid status-lowering signals such as, stooping hand-wringing, face-touching, or self-grooming. Subtly mirror the other person’s body language, adopt their posture or the way they hold their glass.
