Cure Stress and Depression and Build Enthusiasm

by Amaechi in Advice, May 20, 2009

Following are the procedures which helped me to beat stress, depression and to acquire the energy and the mind-set, necessary to remain enthusiastic on day-to-day basis. I would love to share these secrets with you!

I want to share these secrets to good-health and happy living. I have secretly enjoyed these for decades. you will never be able to know how wonderful those simple practices may feel like until you begin to apply and benefit from them. Here are what I was doing- easy and simple. But, the trick is based on keeping the excercise regular and making it a long-term habit.

Each morning, as I wake up from bed, instead of a stick of cigarette or coffee as first thing, I will head straight to the toilet. (I always keep a bible or sometimes any other inspirational book in a shelve of my toilet). While easing myself,I will be reading from either the Holy Bible or my human Idol-’Napoleon Hill’s’ (Think and Grow Rich) I obtain enough motivation from those books. sometimes, with Robert Kiyosaki’s “Poordad Richdad”.

Finished easing myself, I will close and replace the book in its place – I never try to keep reading the book after easing myself because I have to go to work or will have other things to do. As a follow-up, I will stand in front of my bath-room mirror, to admire and appraise myself by reminding my good-self how wonderful I am and how wonderful and beautiful this world is. With that and according to my own feeling, my own ways, I will give thanks and praises to the ‘most High! -The creator and maker of this great day about to begin. I will then Prepare my mind to confront this day with much anticipation and enough enthusiasm!.

After that, I will stretch my body in which ever way I am able to. For example, swinging my arms slowly, bending over and standing side- ways and forth. Next, I will start shaking my body slowly and increasing gradually and vigorously as when intending to run a hundred metres in ten seconds. You can repeat this as many times as possible or as your time and ability may permit. (Do not ever try to stress it. Bearing in mind that, you have to go to work, and that you have got to practice these exercises for the rest of your life on earth. And that, it is targeted to be over in less than ten minutes, maximum fifteen, unless you have more time and wish to push it a little bit longer)

After that, I will Breath hard and deep. Then start to breath slowly until cooling-off. This seems to be the most important because it is intended to warm the blood and permit maximum circulation which helps to wash- away stress, depression and many other impurities that may accumulate on daily bases in our respective bodies. So, when you do this each day even for five or ten minutes; It will always act as an effective defense against negative or toxic substances taking too much space in our bodies.

While doing all that, I keep admiring myself in the bath-room mirror and I am always conscious of time, because others have to use the toilet as well, I have got to hurry up to go to work. that means, I have to wake up extra thirty- minutes before the usual time in a normal day- this is part of the daily-routine meant to prepare and clean-up my body engine for the day’s work ahead.

Whenever I can, I will add about ten to twenty ‘push-ups’. Keeping it that way for some years. And With time, I will naturally increase the number of times though, this is not important. What is important is to keep this practice regular for couple of years; that is where the trick lies. The idea and the motivation is what is important, because that will trigger certain positive hormones that performs the miracle of keeping our body and soul both energetic and enthusiastic- ‘Little drops of water can form a river if allowed to drop for years!

While in all that, I usually try to concentrate and imagine a great day ahead of me. imagine a great health and energy accumulating in me. At this stage, I will start to rinse my mouth and wash my face- I am ready to go to the kitchen for breakfast. sometimes I may choose to shower before or after breakfast; the choice is yours – taking a bath in the morning form part and parcel of this therapy. Most people adopts that ugly habit of not taking bath regularly due to one reason or the other. But, my advice is, that we should have a bath regularly; be it hot or cold bath. All that will serve to activate our energy, motivate our morals and raise our respective enthusiasm for work and to live life on a day-to-day basis.

We should not leave what we can do today for tomorrow, because tomorrow itself is entirely another day –regular and discipline excercise helps to eliminate from the blood system certain toxins and impurities which can manifest in diverse forms that may prove strange even to some acclaimed physicians. So, always try to give your best to yourself everyday and leave the rest to God or for the creator to rectify!.

After bath and breakfast on each given day; I will be ready to go to work or to whichever activity I may wish to engage on. (work here does not mean only economic engagements, but rather any form of proactive functions that helps to enrich oneself or others around him/her). These tips on how to remain enthusiastic all day is meant to warm and activate our body every morning we wake up from sleep; considering the hectic modern life-style of work and time schedule. If regular, this simple acts will surely fight against stress and depression which mostly comes from monotony and work routines. Sometimes I used to add some light yoga exercises to it- all of the above is not supposed to take more than twenty to thirty minutes of your time and I believe we owe ourselves at least that little time in a whole twenty-four hours that makes a day!, considering that without a sound health, life rather becomes an impressive torture instead of the supposed Joy it was meant to be!
