Dealing with Heartache: How to Handle Fear
The emotion of Fear is brought to life in a dark, quirky take on dealing with heartache.
Fear loves a good break up. Like an emotional vampire, Fear feeds on broken hearts and he has an insatiable appetite.
He doesn’t use door bells, he never knocks, and he never bothers to reserve his visits for respectable hours. Fear prefers to creep in the back door when you’re sleeping and abruptly wake you from your slumber then send you into a sudden panic.
Fixing you with a cold gaze, Fear will sit on the edge of your bed then dip into his dusty bag of tricks, and pull out a fear potion. What will it be tonight? A pinch of paranoia? A dusting of dread? Or perhaps a large dose of despair? Then, he’ll cast his fear spell over you and tell you terrible tales.
Fear is a masterful story teller and if you allow him, he’ll keep you up until dawn with wildly exaggerated tales of lost love. Then with a tip of his scruffy old hat, and a wink that implies he’ll be back very soon, he’ll be off.
Fear is a formidable character. A bully and a brute. Sly and manipulative. And he’s a terrible liar. Challenge him however, and you’ll see through him for what he really is…nothing but an elaborate figment of your rampant imagination.
You don’t need potions or spells to keep him away or sticks and stones to drive him off. To keep Fear at bay, you just need self belief. Belief that you’re strong enough to deal with this heartache and belief that nothing is going to stand in your way of coming out of this situation a stronger person. So, the next time Fear comes tip toeing down your hallway in the depths of night, gather your inner strength, stand up to him, and give Fear the fright of his life!
