Do You Have What It Takes?
The right attitudes when going into business. Into your dream business? Wear the right attitude/s…
Wearing the right attitude makes a lot of difference in handling the business. Although business/entrepreneurial books may offer some expert advice on how to manage a business, you have to discover all that for yourself. There are certain characteristics, however, that a businessperson like you should possess.
Require yourself to be consumed with self-confidence. Opening a business is in part presenting your self to the public. If you don’t have that confidence in making your product/service be known by people, you are doomed to go into extinctions after a few months of starting up.
Admit to yourself that you are a dreamer. Remember, not a bed wetter. You must be determined in making that dream of yours come true. Dreamers are creative, hard workers, self-motivated and all in all sane.
You may have grandiose dreams, but in reality, you must accept and see yourself that you have to start at the bottom. Your dream will eventually have its shape if you never stay too long in that level. Look and walk towards your goals.
If you are going to be the chief of the business, a business partner, the owner or whatever role you’re going to assume in the business you’re putting up, act one. Be professional. Don’t mess up with your role or you’re going to mess up the future of your business.
Professionalism may cover areas on which you thought you have escaped when you resigned from your old job. Prioritizing, organizing, even dressing accordingly, meeting and beating deadlines, and going to work on time are only a fraction of these.
Business calls for these things also. Your business is your new work, remember that!
Trust your gut. We are not just talking about loose instincts here, however. We are talking about being able to respond accurately at any instance wherein it’s needed. Be decisive.
Never be the person who has actually made up his mind on what to do but found out that the situation has slipped by already. Decisions are not just product of the minds but they are to be executed as well.
You need to be optimistic. You should reserve an ample of this for the first six months of your business when a fear of losing it and your mind seems to be on the loose also. The idea of optimism here is letting your mind work; not the bland and complacent brand of optimism.
For example, don’t waste time convincing yourself that clients will call you or customers would come in just by being positive about it.
Think of ways to do just that. If you are a new restaurant or canteen owner, distribute leaflets not just to passersby but to offices near you as well.
Consider your business as the apple of your eyes. Meaning, you just don’t need to stare at her but you need to be committed to her. Admit it, commitment demand time and hard work.
While you’re still contemplating on what business you should get into, you should ask yourself if you could act responsibly and effectively on situations attached to this new undertaking of yours.
These traits, that you may or still need to work on, will help you deal with those. Don’t worry, oftentimes, instances may tell you to be one or even be several of these at times.
