Don’t Despair: You Can Overcome Your Problems
Facing problems is normal. Everyone has his or her share of problems and they seemed to pop up everywhere and at any time, whether it is at the workplace, in the home, in school and so forth. In fact having problems seemed to be very much a part of our lives. We cannot avoid them. It’s how we deal with them that matters.
The very first thing you need to do is to define your problem precisely. You must be very clear on what your problem is. If you do not know exactly what the problem is, how can you solve it? Write it down as accurately and concisely as you can. You may be surprised at what you put down in writing. OK done? Let’s move on.
Next you must have a very strong desire and the will to want to solve your problem. Hey, this may sound obvious but you’ll be amazed to know that there are a lot of people who do not want to solve their problems. They just avoid them or are indifferent. There’s also another group of people who do nothing and hope that their problems will just go away by themselves. This is an escapist’s mindset and will not be of much help in solving problems.
You should develop a positive mindset at all times. Be cheery, happy and not have this end-of-the-world feeling. Tell yourself that all problems can be solved.
Have the discipline to exercise regularly to keep yourself fit and healthy. Eat properly and sensibly. Get enough sleep and rest. You may ask: What has exercise, rest and food got to do with problem solving? Well when you are fit, well rested and properly nourished, you will be energized and be able to stay sharp and alert. You’ll have no difficulty in focusing and concentrating which are extremely important in a problem solving exercise.
Think hard and brainstorm for all possible solutions to your problem. Again write them down on paper. Try to obtain an answer by listing in one column the reasons for taking a particular action, and in another the reasons against.
Analyze in a logical and systematic manner. Decide and choose the best solution and implement it.
What if you don’t come to a satisfactory solution? Don’t fret and try this technique. Ask your subconscious mind to solve it for you. Give it a definite time frame, e.g., ‘By 12 noon tomorrow I will know exactly what to do about such and such …’
If it’s a really big issue, give the subconscious mind more time. Then, just forget about the problem altogether. The answer will just appear while you are doing other things like driving or cleaning or when you just wake up. When you get the answer, act on it immediately. Don’t procrastinate or you will find that your subconscious mind is less willing to help next time round.
After you have chosen your best solution, don’t start worrying that it’s not going to work out. Give yourself a chance and have faith in yourself. Have the confidence that you’ve found the solution to your problem.
Conclusion
There you are. Your problems can be overcome if you have the right mindset. Of course it will take work as with every thing else in life. But the rewards will be definitely be well worth your time and effort. Just follow the process as outlined in the article and you’ll be successful.
