Driving Tips for Bad Weather
This is the time of year when the snow and ice start to fall. Even the most experienced drivers have a hard time driving in it all.
Snow and ice can also be very dangerous to drive in of course. It is more serious than rain and fog. If it is at all possible wait until the plow has made it through the street. When you go to leave your home, or wherever, you should completely clear your car of the snow and ice, clear all windows and don’t use wipers on the icy windshield; that would damage the wipers. Things you should check before winter arrives include your brakes and tires to make sure they will last, check the battery and ignition systems as well as the antifreeze and heating systems. Also check the headlights, tail and brake lights as well as blinkers and emergency flashers. Oil is something you need to check on a regular basis, but make an extra check just before winter.
Driving in bad weather can be a scary and dangerous thing, but if we are cautious and pay attention to the tips on driving in such weather the roads would be a little bit safer. Be sure to have your cell phone on and let others know where you are going just in case something does happen so they know where you are to come get you or something. Drive safe and enjoy the winter months.
