Enjoy Pain
A different perspective of enjoying life is to enjoy pain.

Enjoying life can be a little tricky depending on personal views of what life is all about.
We often claim life to be enjoyable only at times we experience spectacular moments. We appreciate life at times we come to visit beautiful places. When we the see magnificent view of Niagara Falls, the Grand Cannon, or even in the local sunset of Manila Bay, we exclaim “What a wonderful World!”
But at times we are on the verge of hopelessness and grief, our tendency is to feel remorseful. When we are ill or a member of the family passed away or we fail in school, we tend to think life is so cruel. Life is harsh and un-enjoyable. Even at times when we accidentally dirtied our shoes by stepping on mud, we feel we are so unlucky.
Despite the optimism side of each person, we tend be a victim of this “automatic” manipulation of our mind.
If we feel bad at times when we have to feel bad, we actually enjoy about it. We are given different types of emotions for us to take full advantage of each.
For example in watching horror movies, we should be thrilled and be scared because that is what the movie is all about. If possible, we should shout or jump at our seats. That is how we take full advantage of our emotion. That is enjoying being scared and being thrilled.
At times when we encounter difficulties, we may cry out loud. That is a way of utilizing a particular emotional part of our being and that is sadness. By doing so, we enjoy a part of our life.
So, next time we feel pain simply due to toothache, we have to remind ourselves that we are created to have variety of feelings and emotions. Toothache may not stimulate an emotion but it will stimulate a strong feeling which is pain. We have to take full advantage of such feeling. By doing so, we enjoy life as we enjoy the pain.

I can’t say that I enjoy pain but we do learn more through hours of suffering than hours of joy.
