Everyone Needs Friends
Having friends is fun and not that difficult if you try. It is also health-enhancing and fun.
Many studies show that having friends is good for your health and well-being. But for many, keeping friendships alive has been difficult. And as we get older, making friends is not as easy as it was when we were young.
Listed below are some suggestions for making and keeping friends.
- Smile and say “Hi” to those you encounter throughout the day.
- Once a week, call or email an old friend.
- Once a month, invite a friend to do something.
- Take a community education or college class.
- Join an aerobics or exercise class or a fitness club.
- Take up a sport such as golfing, bowling or softball.
- Join a group working toward a goal you believe in.
- Volunteer with a service club, hospital, church or school.
- Get involved in community theater.
- Regularly attend a place of worship.
But what is wrong with making contact with old friends and reminiscing about the old days? You may be surprised to find that your old buddies want same. With the Internet it is easy to find people and make contact. I do this regularly and I enjoy it very much! Try it!
