Failure Is Only Possible When You Give Up

How many of us have searched for wealth and happiness only to find ourselves trapped by the demands of society?

Most of us begin the journey of our lives with great ambition. We take steps toward fulfilling our dreams with high hopes and aspiration, only to find ourselves some years later, not quite where we imagined. The demands that society places upon us in order to survive, alters us from our chosen path and forces us to grab the best possible opportunity within our reach.  In doing so, we may gain some small sense of security, but we find we have to pour most, if not all, of our energy into maintaining it. We begin to view change as our enemy because we do not want to lose what little we have obtained and worked so hard for. We feel trapped in an endless cycle of fear, as society relentlessly demands more and more from us. Ultimately, we loose sight of our dreams to the reality of just getting by. Life has now become nothing more than a miserable routine, ruled by our lack of self esteem and sense of failure.

The truth of the matter is, you have not failed. Getting back on the path to your dreams is as easy as recognizing what tools are available to you, and changing your negative thinking into positive thinking. Let’s take the word failure for example. Failure is defined as The condition or fact of not achieving the desired end or ends, but as long as you continue to try, it is impossible to fail. Failure in the truest sense of the word, requires that you give up! The inventor Thomas Edison was asked at one point how he could continue to try to invent the light bulb when he had failed over 1,000 times. Edison is said to have replied: “I have not failed 1,000 times. I have successfully discovered 1,000 ways that do not work, and I do not need to try them again.” Edison believed in himself and while he may have strayed from his path, he never lost sight of his dreams. Why do we fear change when we know that it is our only given constant? We should embrace change because it is the key to breaking away from our monotonous routines and getting back on the path to success. Comfort cannot be found in settling for anything less than what you were meant to be. Our real journey begins at the edge of uncertainty.
