Five Ways to Not Forget
One of the most annoying thing that you can come up in your daily life is to forget something. That not only disturbs your schedule, but you also end up blaming yourself for the folly. There are a few simple measures that can be taken so that you may not forget in future.
I forget. That is one of my special traits that I have tried to correct for a very long time. Once my brother called from abroad. I put him on hold and then forgot all about it, making my brother cancelling the call and tried calling again to no avail as the phone had not been hung up. I used to get distracted easily and that was one of the reasons for me forgetting a thing to do. Over the years, I developed many habits that helped me with this problem of mine and made me better at managing things. A few of these tips I share below to let people not forget.
Do it at once:
If you get a task to do, do not procrastinate. In fact, if you can do it at that very moment, do it. No point in procrastinating as later, you will need to do it anyway and later, you might even forget.
Put an alarm:
These days everyone has a mobile phone. I do not wear a watch because I can always use the clock on my mobile to keep track of time. Whenever there is a time dependent task, that is, a task that must be done at a certain time, I always put an alarm on my mobile. That way, even if I forget, the alarm reminds me and since the phone is always with me, there is seldom a chance that I will not be reminded on time.
Put it by the door:
This is a trick that I learned from my father. If you need to do something the next day, put it right next to the door. Then tomorrow, when you are going out, you will never miss it and always take it with you. Normally I post important letters that way, but it can be anything.
Make a list:
You might be very intelligent and good at remembering stuff, but if you write the stuff down, there isn’t a chance that you will ever miss anything. Very beneficial in doing groceries.
Stay focused on one task alone:
Some people have a very short attention span (like me), thus I stay focused on one task and one task alone. I do not try to multitask as I know that I can not handle it. By ensuring that I do one task at a time, I always get to complete that task and not forget about it if I get busy in some other task.
These five simple habits helped me in managing my life properly and not forget anything important. If you make them a habit for yourself, you will see that in future, you will not forget.
