Forget Marriage Guidance: Buy a Good Mattress
The perfect mattress is like a good relationship, supportive and it doesn’t let you down.
In the scheme of things most of us don’t put the purchase of a good mattress right up there with life’s other priorities. On your list it might be a new car, the tropical vacation, finding Mr Right or Miss Right and so the list goes on. I don’t think my list ever included the perfect mattress it was after all somewhere to sleep and on the whole a lot of us take that part of our lives for granted.
However most recently i have become a bit of an aficionado because i live a lot of my life on the road and Hotel beds are definitely not created equal. When one is tired and having to get up with the sun and then you fly all day your priorities in life kind of change. Egyptian cotton sheets are the icing on the cake, a duvet not too hot and not too cold is another plus but the ultimate on the road pleasure is a comfortable mattress. I have slept on beds you press buttons to increase and decrease firmness. I have slept on beds with a definitely not sleepy hollow in the middle. I have slept on mattresses so hard that i have transferred to the floor. Then one wonderful day i arrived at a hotel which had the kind of mattress designed supposedly by NASA. They are a latex and foam combination. It was an epiphany. It seduced me into a long and satisfying sleep and dared me not to get up with the alarm. I am a side sleeper and normally i wake with achy hips, i got out of bed and tripped the light fantastic to complete my ablutions for the day with a rare vigour.
When i got home from that trip my husband and i invested in our marriage, our health and longevity. We bought a clone of the the NASA designed mattress for half the price and became converts to long restful sleep.
We have also had friends stay the night just to test the bed out before investing themselves. This type of mattresses saves marriages.
So if you are tired, sore and grumpy and reading this article i would recommend hitting the mattress stores. Put them to the test, take a good book, write some blogs, roll around, fall asleep, cuddle someone even if its the store assistant. You deserve a good mattress like you deserve a good relationship and if you haven’t got a partner still invest. When they fall for you they will fall for your bed too.
