Four Tips to Get Rid of Worry Effectively
This article explains why we worry, what happens to us when we worry and useful tips on how to get rid of this bad habit that can destroy our life.
6. Worrying increases tendency to commit suicide. The Swedish National Institute of Public Health noted that people who worry have increased risk of committing suicide.
How can worrying be resolved?
If you go to a doctor, most likely he will prescribe you drugs. But drugs have side-effects which will bring you added worries aside from burning your pocket. Drugs, therefore, are not recommended. Here are desirable solutions to worrying:
1. Have a strong social network. According to many studies, people who communicate frequently with other people have fewer incidences of just about all types of disease. According to Davidhizar (2001), some people pursue illness for the simple purpose of gaining attention.
2. Physical exercise. When a member of the family got sick, I run almost everyday. Sweating it out relieves me of thinking about stressful situations. When muscles are active, you tend to focus your attention on it.
3. Learn to relax. Relaxation allows increased blood flow to the brain calming your nerves. Relaxation can be achieved through deep abdominal breathing, listening to calming music, and activities like yoga and tai chi. You may even try SCUBA diving, as an hour-dive physically eliminates you from the concerns of life on land. Every time I dive, I am completely absorbed with life underwater especially while taking pictures.
4. Prayer and meditation. I believe this is best. Actually, it can solve many other things aside from worrying. This requires faith in the Lord. You believe and it shall be given you (Mark 11: 22-24). When I was down and felt all my burdens as if the world is upon me, I sought God’s help and He responded. Indeed, his promise in the bible is fulfilled. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11: 28). Meditation on God’s words will undoubtedly provide you with inner peace.
Conclusion
Although worrying may be a built-in system among humans to deal with the daily stresses of living, we have always a choice not to worry. It’s a matter of attitude. Anyway, what can you accomplish by worrying? Nothing! So better wear that smile and brighten your day.
Finally, ponder a very wise teaching about how to deal with worry, no less from Christ himself. It is written in Matthew 6:34, “Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.“

Thank you for your work and research on this topic. A common one amongst busy lifestyles. I appreciate the time you put in.
I never truly thought about the statement/philosophy ‘we akways have a choice not to worry’. I like this perspective. It allows worriers to gain control over their worrying, instead of the other way around.

Thanks for your feedback EJ. This perspective of choice really helped me a lot so I shared that philosophy. We do not have control over how things occur. If we apply the 80-20 rule, we have control over only 20% of what we do 80% of the time. But we always have the POWER OF CHOICE. We can think out of the box.
