Gaining Control Over Your Circumstances
Amplifying and pondering on the importance of a decision can paralyze your effectiveness when we cannot throw off your feelings of inertia.
Decision is a deliberate and conscious resolves of an individual or a group of people to act in an exact direction for a purpose towards reaching a goal. It is a conscious resolute between two or more substitute. It requires the consciousness and awareness of our situations. In every decision, we decide a path, a direction, a purpose, a choice in preference to other alternatives.
Everyone is faced with the challenge of making decision in life. Over and over, we are faced with this inexcusable question of “what should I do?” We are faced with this type of decision at work, at home, at marketplace… in all places. This exigent task could suck days trying to work out the just right decision. We are hard-pressed from varied options to pick one or the other while we consider the consequences of each and try to foresee which effect is the most profitable; and many people in this position will holdup making a selection, reflecting on the options as long as possible.
Indecision can be debilitating if we are not careful. It can be a herald of melancholy. It is often interrelated to lack of self-confidence and a propensity to worry about probable problems, about the future. It can be contagious as it spreads itself to others: hesitation of one person can decelerate the necessitate action of a group. Tag on are the other unhelpful impacts the burden imposed by indecision can take on the quality of one’s life. It is an internal stoppage that can obstruct one’s progression; it leads to often cases of avoidance and procrastination, lost of strength of character, gloominess and nervousness. It is the prime key to lassitude and fuzzy-mindedness.
Indecision becomes obvious when we find ourselves at any fork; where our minds are panicky with fear, fear of mistakes and uncertainty, mainly in cases of big and life altering decision. We reflect that one of the options before us had to be right; others wrong- our lives dangle in the balance. When we make a decision, we resolve on one selection at the expense of all others.
There are few explanations below to why we consistently get stuck in indecision:
1. Indefiniteness of purpose
2. Conflicting nature of needs
3. Inconclusiveness
4. Believing the consequences of certain real-life decision to be important
5. Trying to predict which ending is best.
Amplifying and pondering on the magnitude of a decision can also paralyze our decision’s effectiveness when we cannot throw off our feelings of inertia.
When we use our decision making tactics well, we live well as human beings. The decision we make brings changes to our lives. Be conscious of the situation – know the reason why the decision should be made, seek information, make list of alternatives, prioritize your priorities, whittle down your alternatives, and take instantaneous action.
Are you indecisive about what to do? You must be proactive and make a choice. Don’t worry that your decision may turn out to be less brilliant, for sure you will never know except you start off.
