Get Smart About Your Goals
How to achieve your goals…

- Specific. You know how we sometimes give ourselves very vague, catch-all goals so that it will be impossible for us to fail? Well, the thing is, if what you want isn’t clear to you, how in the world can you go after it? If everything is a blur, it’ll also be impossible for you to succeed because you might not even know what you have to do in the first place.
- Measurable. How can you tell if you’ve gotten anywhere if you can’t chart your progress? Set deadlines and markers. Say that after one week you should be working out at the gym once a week. After two weeks you should have built it up to two times a week. This way you can monitor if you’re moving towards your goal of joining any Body Beautiful Contest.
- Realistic and Actionable. Is it physically, mentally, financially possible for you to fulfill your goals? Say you’re hopelessly tone deaf. It makes no sense to dream of singing in Broadway. But if you could have a flair for set design. Faithfully pursuing that lad could still land you your chance at shining on stage. And take note–this is not about settling for something less. This is about realistically looking at yourself and setting a goal for being the best that you can be.
- Time Bound. As started before, set deadlines. And “soon”, “later”, and “after” don’t count as deadlines. Because they allow you to procrastinate and give you a false sense of security. You’ll probably only realize that you don’t have all the time in the world when, well, it’s too late.
