Get Up and Get Going
Life is full of ups and down, but one must face the challenges to attain greatness.
Everyday world-wide, we fall. We get discouraged and disappointed when faced with life situations. The question of interest then is, “why do some of us come out of these problems victorious while others don’t”? The answer to this question can be found in the individual’s decision to either stay down or rise up again. As the Bible put it, “Many are the afflictions of the righteous; but the Lord God delivereth him out of them all” (Psalm 34:19) (KJV). Also in Micah 7:8 the Bible says, “Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy; when I fall, I shall arise, when I sit in darkness, the Lord shall be a light unto me” (KJV). It can be seen from the above passages that one’s will and God’s support will everyday bring one out of the perils of life. According to Les Brown, “when life pushes you down, make sure you land on your back because if you can look up, you can get up”. In whatever situations we find ourselves, we should say like Job, “If a man dies, shall he live again? All the days of my appointed time will I wait until my change comes” (Job 14:1 KIV). The bright side is everybody falls; so you are not alone!
The unique thing is not whether one has had a set back, but how well we did get back up, what lessons did we learn while we were down could enhance our effectiveness in life? Oswald Vary advising said, “Whenever you fall, pick something up”. Let’s follow his advice and look at the opportunities in every disappointment. Let’s look out for silver linings behind every cloud by which we make adequate preparations that will enhance our life goals and ambition. Never become apprehensive of mistake becuase when corrected, mistake helps us take back something we’ve missed! Knowing that mistakes and set backs will come therefore becomes a major strength for us because it teaches us to make adequate preparation for preventing or handling them. As Abi Ajoni wrote, “when we watch our world crumble we can more often than not, trace it back to a wrong and costly decision we have made at some point”.
Refuse to stay down. Get up and face the challenges because they end up producing total man. Don’t sit there and brood over that situation. Believe, and commit that situation to God your maker. Your set back is so that you can gather momentum. Arise and go for it because you’ve been armed and dangerous to everything that makes you stop. Now arise and go!
