Getting Even More Things Done Everyday

One technique that worked for one of the most successful man of his time, Charles M. Schwab, might work for you too. So simple, yet the best thing you will learn about GTD.

It’s easy to think, but to execute the thought… now that’s something.

You might remember reading about one great man called Charles M. Schwab. This was one of the most successful man of his time. One day he wanted to accomplish more. This story is real, I am sorry not to have bookmarked the source. He visited one professional and said he wanted a sure way to accomplish more everyday, he did not have enough time to do everything. That man said he should pick ten paper cards. Then he would write down on the cards the ten things he would have to do for that day, then number the cards by order of importance, 1 would be the most important and 10 the least important. He would start with the number one and only after finishing it he would go to the number 2 and so on. At the end of his day, Mr. Schwab said this was the best thing he learned in his entire life. If this worked for Schwab, will it work for you?

Today you do not need to have paper and pencil.

You have Google docs. Just open a new document and write ten numbers, one to ten. Then write on each line one thing you must do by order of importance that thing has for you.

Once you start doing number one, the most important and the one that must be done in that day, you will move to the next one already knowing the most important is already finished and this way your mind is more relaxed and you accomplish more. Once you reach number eight and you see you have no time left, you will probably see that those tasks were not necessary at all!
