Give Up Using Profanity

Learn how to stop cursing.

You have a problem. You use profanity a lot. Although it is possible to derive pleasure from doing it, you have to be careful about using it around others. You will learn how to stop cursing.

It can do you wonders to focus on your image. If you care what others think about the way you behave and you want to portray yourself as an intelligent person who has class and self-respect, you will be more willing to reduce using foul language or give it up all together.

Follow what my grandmother says. “The use of profanity is a weak mind trying to express itself,” she believes.

When you feel the urge, you should substitute appropriate words for the ones you prefer to say. When you get frustrated over something not going your way, you can say, “Darn it! I’ve had it with this doggone radio working poorly. Now I have to get a new one. Dag!”

You should close your mouth and keep one of your hands on it for several seconds. This could help you resist the impulse to swear.

If you say a lot of swear words out of anger, you should consider learning anger management. The less you become mad, the less desire you will have to cuss.

You can try to bite your tongue as soon as you begin to speak while having an inappropriate word in your thoughts. This should help you.

You can pretend like you are on the air at a television studio or radio station. If you do this, you are likely to be cautious with what comes out of your mouth as your brain tells you to abstain from saying one of the words that are barred from the media.

You should create a special challenge. Set a goal of going a week without cursing whether or not anyone is around. Make a wager with a buddy or family member that says you cannot say anything foul for a specified length of time.

It helps to strive to take the high road. You should not cuss anyone out – even if they do it to you first – because if you do, you will stoop to his or her level.

You must keep in mind where you are and think about the consequences you might face for saying the wrong thing. Ask yourself if it is worth it to lose your job, lose friends, get kicked out of a public place or be asked to leave a friend’s home. It is especially vital to not swear when kids are around.

Excellent. The Word of God actually describes a man wearing a curse on his life like a girdle or a belt because he prefered cursing to blessing. The habit can be broken. Good tips!
