Help Beat the Winter Blues: Let in the Light
Feeling tired, depressed, and just plain blah? Anyone who lives in the cold regions of the US knows what I’m talking about. Fight the winter blues with these simple yet effective lighting tips.
Winter is upon us. Time for the colds and the flu, time for sniffly noses and dark afternoons. Try these simple yet effective ways to help beat your winter blues. Let in the light!
Get some sun. I know what you’re thinking, sun, in the winter? Yes. Even 5-10 minutes of sun (even in the winter) can boost your vitamin C levels, making you feel more alert and awake. Try taking a walk in the morning or at lunch to revitalize yourself.
Lighten up your bedroom. Open your curtains slightly so that way the sunlight can come into your room before you wake. Or, if you can’t do that, set a timer for your bedroom light to come on before your alarm goes off to simulate the sunlight. Getting sun first thing in the morning can help your mood all day long.
Switch out your household lightbulbs. Switching to compact fluorescent bulbs help to create a more natural sunlight look vs. incandescent bulbs (plus you’ll save on energy costs, which is always a good thing).
These simple ideas will help keep the winter blues where they belong, away from you!
Enjoy.
