Hobby: A Way to Success

According to Wikipedia, Hobby means to follow a happy pastime. Hobby means what one loves to do in one’s leisure time which gives him pleasure and contentment as hobbies are not done for financial purpose.  Hobby thus depicts interests and leisure pursuit of someone. Different people have different hobbies, some do stamps collection, and others may be fond of paragliding or cooking. Importance of having a hobby is manifold. To start with, it discourages to get bored when someone doesn’t have anything to do. Also it helps increasing our information. For example if I love gardening, to keep plants fresh and green, I’ll pull together all the relevant information about the plants I have in my garden. What they require to grow? And how many times a month they need trimming?

As the world has become global village, competition in the markets has sore. Everybody has to strive hard to make his both ends meet. Part-time jobs help to add another string to bow to oil the wheel of life. Hobbies have thus faded away into nothing. People hardly find time for their family and at night, being so tired, fall asleep at once. Realization of this fact is really important that hobby doesn’t merely about spare time. It’s about personality development.

For instance If a candidate has written in his resume that he loves tennis then HR manager may ask what is the “length of a tennis court”? Not knowing the answer, applicant becomes speechless. Isn’t it hilarious that you don’t know something about the thing that attracts you most? Then how can you show promise and enthusiasm for something that’s mind-numbing and tedious. HR managers know right applicant is not one who has got just the relevant degree and experience and nothing else. Because they discern if they succeed to make a job attractive for a person who is so devoted and fanatical about something he would go beyond the duty hours to accomplish that tasks.

To have a hobby means to indulge yourself into it. To select an activity as your pastime first ask yourself a question what I love to do the most. Take your time and look deep into yourself and then come up with the response. If you crop up with two or more choices, decide which one is more focal. Some people have bad habit of changing over their hobbies as they don’t want to pay proper time it required. And their sluggishness and lack of will power make them jack of all and ace of nothing. It’s same as acquiring little knowledge about everything which is really very dangerous. When you follow your pastime dedicatedly overtime, you’ll see its passion and craze will make you fellow worthy of attention.

When you learn the art of committing your soul to your hobby, you can easily adapt to new things and situations. It builds up your stamina and makes you persistent and unshakable. If you don’t have a hobby it’s the right time to have one.
