How Constructive Criticism Takes a Turn Around
Think about these two words the next time you say them.
Constructive criticism are two words that mean well but sound bad if you think about them.
The word criticism at the end makes the first word an assistant to the crime. People should think about this word before using it. A person could say things like this instead:
- “This might add to your brilliant idea…”
- “You are so talented. Do you have a moment? I may have good ideas to add to yours if you’re interested?”
You get the picture. These two words have been used all our lives. “Can’t you take a little constructive criticism?” Today people should take a good hard look at the words,’ constructive criticism,’ and try to reword them. People need our opinions not criticism. It doesn’t matter how we all try to excuse this but if we allow ourselves to use the word criticism in any form we indeed are still criticizing to a degree.
Find different ways to say something and give better comments than to use the word constructive before the word criticism. This could be what a certain person needs to hear before hitting on a great idea of there own.
We should try to listen with our own ears and feel from our own heart and then we’ll know the right thing to say.
It shall turn out constructive without the word criticism even in the picture.
Food for thought: Think about words that have been excused by society and then make them sound better and we’ll be on the right road to a better tomorrow.
Better advice for a better future.

Good article. However, sadly enough there was nothing wrong with the words in the beginning. People just used them in such a way that they became negative.
If you think about it there are several words that come from the base word critic. To me a critic is simply an informed opinion, which can be good as well as bad. We have tended to use the word to mean bad so often that now the word itself gives us that feeling.
Seems we ruin a lot of perfectly good words by our negative thoughts!

Constructive criticisms are good basically if they’re made with good heart, but not wicked heart. Thanks and liked it.

I like the sentiment but some might take it as condescending.

Good article. I find I have to watch what I say because once it is out of my mouth I can never put it back.

I must admit I always feel those words just mean criticism and very rarely find them constructive. You have made a very good point here.

Language is a living thing. Words that once had positive meanings come to have negative meanings and words that once had negative meanings come to have good meanings.
“She’s the badest lead singing of any band here” can be something very good, indeed.

Instead of criticizing, try moving to a higher level of morality. It works.

It really depends on how you use your words and what was your intention. Some people hide behind the word “constructive criticism” to simply belittle and express their sense of superiority. We need to be more creative and find other ways to be constructive. Thought-provoking piece.

Interesting thoughts. I like the way Lady Sunshine explained it. I to believe that using the word, “creative” before the word criticism is only a cover up word, to not sound so critical.

Constructive criticism is so essential in our world today not only for the betterment of an individual but in some cases even whole societies and what you’ve said is so important because a lot of us fail to see the ‘constructive’ in it and focus only on the negatives. Focussing on the negatives clearly shows us how negative that person can be so for a positive self, it is good to rephrase ourselves in such a way that everyone can be positive when it comes to taking constructive criticism.
A good point made through a well written article
