How to Avoid Alcoholism

Being unable to control your driving, is just as serious, as an alcoholic that drinks daily.

In just a few words, don’t drink. A person, who drinks day after day, will find it very difficult to just stop. I am not directing my thoughts or comments to them, since they will need medical attention.

My aim here is to bring to light that, a person does not have to drink daily to be an alcoholic, but a person who cannot control themselves when they do drink; suffers from a form alcoholism. Some say, I don’t drink to often, usually at a party; I don’t hide my drinking either. They don’t drink often, but when they do drink, they drink a lot.

Let me explain, do you go to a party or a friends house, and you worry about drinking too much; does your spouse or partner dread the condition he or she will find you in?  Perhaps your considered the “drunk” of the party, even thou nobody tells you that to your face. Do you get so intoxicated that you remember up to a certain point, and then can’t recall a thing after that point? Then you wonder if you did anything to embarrass yourself, or say something that you should not have. If you can answer yes to any of these questions, and they happen quite frequently; perhaps only once a month.

If when you do drink others expect that you will get drunk, even if it is every six to eight months.  Then the sad fact is you have a problem.

The best way to combat this type of situation is not to drink. Ever!

For some this is very difficult, especially if you like your drink, but if you cannot learn to control it, it causes martial problems or you black out this is just not good. So if moderation is not something you can handle, then you must quit. There are no ifs or buts, end of story.

Being able to drink is a privilege given to you at twenty-one and that should not be abused. If you can’t keep it under control, you embarrass yourself, your partners, friends and family; but think about what your kids are thinking.
