How to be Grateful

Sounds easy, doesn’t it but it takes some thought to truly learn how to be grateful in your life even during those negative times in life. Being grateful can change your life in many ways.

To some of us being grateful seems like something that you are born with, and to others being grateful is something that is hard to find when living life. Especially when those negative experiences come your way.

When living a life through positive thought it is important to practice being grateful for experiences in life no matter what the circumstances.  When you decide to shift your focus to the positive in life, you will find that more positive will come into your life.  So how can someone even think grateful when things around you seem less than enjoyable?

Shifting focus to the positive definitely takes a change.  You have to learn to shift your whole mindset from one of struggle and worry, to abundance and happiness.  Finding the positive in a negative is part of the process of positive thought.  Once you retrain the mind it will become second nature to see the positive in all around you so let’s start with a few steps to point you in the right direction.

Do you try all day long to see the contentment and joy in your life, yet complain about your bills or your lack of love in a relationship?  You are giving the Universe two different pictures to work with. One in which you search out joy, and another when you turn around and talk about how bad your life is.  Maybe you gossip about other people.  That is a negative that you are putting out into the Universe which means you are asking for more to gossip about.  Maybe the gossip will be about you next time.

The first step is to recognize all the grumbling you may be doing during the day and do your best to step back from all those comments you may be saying and thinking that come from a negative state of mind.

The next thing to do is begin to see things from a different perspective.  You may complain that you have to pay the mortgage and wonder, “How could there possibly be a positive spin in that?”  How about: “I’m grateful I have a home.”  Or maybe you complain because your spouse leaves the dishes for you and you nag him into the ground about it.  The positive?  “I am grateful I have a loving spouse who deeply cares for me and thinks of me in so many wonderful ways.”  Do you see how this works?

Just finding the positive and putting less focus on the negative traits will indeed bring you a life of joy.  Your own frame of mind will begin to shift automatically as you practice finding more to be grateful for.   As you emit vibrations from your own self of gratitude and joy, the Universe will bring to you, in some form, what you are thinking and feeling.  We tell on ourselves all the time by who comes into our lives and through the situations that come to us.  Every person and circumstance is a reflection of something we had thought of or previously felt, manifesting in a vibrational form from what you were thinking.  We are born into certain families to help us learn and grow within our own consciousness.  We chose them to help and they said yes.  That is even something to be grateful for.  Our family helps us learn about what we want and don’t want in our own lives.  Being grateful is a state of mind and when you are able to see life through grateful eyes your life will generate more to be grateful for.
