How to be Happy
Every one in this world desires to be happy. Young or old, no matter how old you are, there is always an inner need to find happiness. Life is a gift that should be lived happily day by day. Life is too short to despair.
- Count your blessings. Happiness is being contented with what you have. Think of all the people you are grateful for, and all the good things that have happened to you. It’s not how much or how little you have that matters, but how satisfied you are with what you already have. A person who has nothing can actually be happier than the one who has everything.
- Think positive. Happiness is a state of mind.See the glass as half-full rather than half empty. Instead of dwelling on the negative, focus on the positive. Surround yourself with positive-thinkers and stay away from the complainers. These positive and happy people will inspire, encourage you and lift you up. When something happens that make you feel down, just remember that it could have been worse. When a negative thought crosses your mind, block it with a happy, positive thought.
- Make others happy. You will find happiness and fulfillment when you do things to make other people happy. The next time you meet someone, say something nice to compliment him/her. When you make others feel good about themselves, then you will also feel good.
- Laugh. Watch happy movies. Laughter is the best medicine. Spend special moments with your loved ones and enjoy each other’s company.
- It is not too late. Maybe there’s a hobby you’ve always wanted to pursue, or a musical instrument you’ve always wanted to learn. Go for it!
- Sing. Dance. Music is a therapy that can soothe your soul and uplift your spirits. Listen to your favorite music. Sing and enjoy it.
- Keep healthy. Nourish your body well. Get adequate sleep and rest. If you feel fit and healthy then it will raise your spirits. Exercise and stay active.
- Keep it simple. Reduce or eliminate the clutter to free your mind. The simpler our lives are, the closer we are to happiness.
- Learn from the children. The best lessons in life can be learned just by observing the little children. Notice how joyful they are. They get very excited with the simplest things in life. They don’t hold a grudge against people. They are not judgmental. They are loving and compassionate by nature. They have faith. They have hope.
- Slow down a little. We do too many things at the same time and the stress accumulates. We find it hard to focus on one thing because our world demands multitasking. We make to-do lists and end up being frustrated because we end up not being able to accomplish them all. Focus on your priorities, and work from top priority to bottom slowly.
- Learn to forgive. If you remove the grudges in your heart, you will be set free. Let go of your anger and resentment. Forgive the people who have done wrong things to you or who have hurt you. If you can manage to do this then you will feel lighter and happier. Each day is a new day. Forego the past and look towards the future.
