How to Be Happy and Healthy
Is there anyone among your friends and family who tends to be negative most of the time? If so, is this person in good physical health?
Is there a connection between negativity and poor health? Unresolved anger, high levels of fear or worry, and suppressed emotions can ultimately damage the immune system, making us vulnerable to every disease in the book.
Dr. Gabor Mate, author of the breakthrough book, When The Body Says No, says that bottling up anger can be deadly or even fatal. He was surprised by how many illnesses were characterized by emotional shut downs. With that said, you don’t have to hide your emotions and pretend that you don’t have problems. It’s not good to keep your emotions bottled up. Keeping your feelings bottled up leads to stress. It’s better to find healthier and more positive ways to alleviate stress.
Here are some things you can do to elevate your mood and perk up your health:
Forgiving others
Depending on what he/she has done, this may be hard to do, but you should give it a try. I know it may seem easier to stay mad at the person, but you won’t be doing your body any good by staying angry. I know this because people have upset me in the past and I found it hard to forgive them. It was stressing me out until I decided to forgive them for what they have done. It’s easier for me to let it go and forgive them than it is to stay mad at it.
Exercising
Here it is again. Exercising is a great way to relieve stress. If you exercise enough, you may be too worn out to worry about your problems.
Sleeping
Try to get as much sleep as you can because it’s important to get your rest. You’d be surprised at how many illnesses you can get because of a lack of sleep.
Listening to music/Dancing
Listening to music is a great way to relax. If the songs are slow, you can relax to the music. If the songs are fast, you can get up and dance your troubles away. It’s also an extra way to squeeze in a workout.
Deep breathing
Taking deep breaths will help you calm down. It will give you a chance to relax from the anger that you have.
Hugging
Hugging people makes you feel good. Hugs sometimes make you feel better when you are stressed. This particular tip is easy and it doesn’t take long to do.
Expressing love
Letting people know that you love them will make you as well as others feel good. It feels good to know that you are loved.
Laughter
Laughter is always the best medicine. It’s a tension reliever that can take your mind off of your problems.
Spending time with friends
Spending time with positive friends can help your mood. It’s easier to be around positive people than it is to be around negative people. Positive people will help pick you up and encourage you while negative people tend to bring you down.
Happier people tend to be healthier than negative people. Since being angry and negative can cause illness, it’s important to stay happy for your health. I hope these tips will help you to be happier and healthier.

You’re right, M A. Anger does cause diseases. That’s why it’s better to find ways to relax.

Dear CA Johnson,
Your definately right hon as the mind is a powerful thing and it is a very hard thing to do letting go of the past but when you finally do you can for the first time like who you see in the mirror and like your inner self. Being surrounded by negative people versus positive people you dead right their. Just having a negative person in the same room can be so physically and mentally draining on your health whereas if your happy and laughing and the people around you are doing the same thing it’s wonderful and takes less energy and snap you then come across someone who is negative your mood can just drop. When I come across a person like that who say talks to me terrible when serving me for eg. compared to someone who served me before calls me by my name and are laughing together I go to my husband this person has just put me down into a sad place I need to get out of it and get back to the happy me and he will help me through it. Sometimes little things can really bring you down like that but you always seem to get through much bigger things.
This article is so relevant to anybody to the person they are married to, their cousin, or the nasty bank teller who is having a bad day and taking it out on you with these tips it will help you to elevate your mood back to where it normally is for most people relatively happy.
Another great versatile article hon.
Love from your Sis.

You are right too, Shelley. It’s better to be around positive people because negative people are always downers. I try to remember to turn the other cheek with certain people who can be nasty. It’s hard to do, but I try.

Sounds like very good ways to maintaine happiness.
I have a hard time forgiving people whom hurt me, though.

Thank you for checking out my article, Morgana. I agree that it is hard to forgive people when they have hurt you. It’s easy to do when the betrayal isn’t that bad. It’s definitely something that takes time to do.
