How to be Happy in Difficult Times
Simple ways to be positive and happy when facing tough times.
Happiness and the desire to be happy is probably man’s strongest desire. While it is easy to be happy and upbeat when things are easy and everything is sailing smoothly. But what happens when it gets rough and difficult? Spirits plummet, negativity creeps in and the world starts to seem dreary and bleak. Yet it in these difficult times, that one should work at remaining in good spirits and not just be happy themselves but also, spread the cheer around.
There is no doubt that being happy, positive and cheerful is essential for good mental and physical well-being. All it requires is a shift in attitude, a change in some old habits and a bit of consistency. It may not seem easy but it is possible and with practice and time, being happy would become a part of your personality.
Here are some simple and easy ways to remain happy in difficult times and when things don’t seem to be going the way they should. It may require some hard work and effort, but always keep in mind, that the benefits far outweigh the efforts.
Be Grateful
I have found that being grateful can really change perspective and attitude. It is easy to take life and its everyday miracles for granted, however, by spending just 5-10 minutes each day being grateful for all that you have and enjoy, life would seem much better and more fulfilling. So take out the time to be grateful for everything- the good, the bad and the ugly. It could be as simple as a bright sunny day, the ability to complete projects on time, or even, having bills to pay.
Everything that happens has a lesson in store, so be grateful for that. By simply being grateful each day, you would experience a deep sense of contentment and a lasting sense of happiness.
Share and Listen
You may not realize it but sharing your troubles with others, especially those who care about you, would make you feel much better and also, enable you to see things from a different perspective. Connect with friends and family members. It is easy to drift away and feel sorry for oneself in difficult times, however, make the effort to share and bond with them.
Remember that others may have ideas and solutions that you may not have thought of or they may just lend a willing ear and a shoulder to cry on. In any case, by sharing you would experience the comfort of knowing that there are people out there who care for your happiness and this in itself, would make you feel loved. And when you are loved, you are happy.

This is inspiring. Sometimes life knocks you down. Or someone–you just need to get back up and get on with it. God closes a window–and then opens a door.
