How to be Positive in a Negative World
It’s difficult to remain positive in a negative world. Everyday we are bombarded with bad news when we read the newspapers or watch the news on TV. Bad news make more money than good news. How can we be positive in a largely negative world?
Besides the news, we are often surrounded by people who face lots of problems and difficulties in life, and project a sceptical view of everything in this world. So, what do you do when you know you are talking to a negative individual? (Read How to Identify Negative People if you do not know if you are talking to one.) How do you respond to them?
1) Be Aware of Your Emotions
First and foremost, it is important to be conscious of your emotions. You may be feeling positive and confident at the moment. But once you start talking to someone negative in their behaviour, you will notice a change in how you may feel. You may feel down and unmotivated when you continue to hear what they say. Being aware is a key step in order to eliminate negative feelings from your heart. Once you become aware of the change in your mood, make attempts to stop it.
2) Stay Neutral
One simple way to stop getting affected by the negative person you are talking to is to stay neutral. Take each word he says lightly instead of seriously. Constantly remind yourself that you are going to stay positive, no matter what he says. Pretend to be a bystander, watching the whole episode from a distance. By putting yourself in such a position, you can assess him objectively. Catch the negative words he says and remind yourself to be the opposite.
3) A Matter of Choice
Understand that being positive is a matter of choice. You choose to be positive or negative in the moment, in the hour, in the day, in your life. Being aware of your emotions allow you to make a decision as to which emotion to follow. It’s not going to be easy. In fact, it needs lots of practice. But soon, you can switch from being negative to being positive in just a matter of seconds, once you get the hang of it.
4) Law of Attraction
Read more books on the Laws of Attraction. Understand that positive energy will attract positive energy, and vice versa. Remain positive and the good vibes will flow into your life.
5) Visualise Positivity
If worse comes to worst, remove yourself from the negative person you are talking to, or the negative situation that you encounter. Take a moment to close your eyes and visualise positive things that is coming your way. Look at things in the positive light, even when the situation may seem negative at first. Soon you will be happy and positive again.
