How to Become a Great Liar

Though lying may not be the greatest asset of a person, it’s still nice to know how to effectively lie when you need to.

Steps

  1. First you must know what you are going to lie about. For instance, if your mom asks you if you did your homework and you didn’t do it, reply with something on the basis of “Yeah, I finished 10 minutes ago”. If you just said “Yeah I did”, then it is less believable. Well thought out lies are more believable.
  2. Now, you must anticipate what you are going to be asked next. For instance, if your mother now asked you “What classes did you have homework in?”, you must’ve already thought of an answer BEFORE she asks you this. This is to reduce thinking time, which makes a lie obvious. If you were smart and already thought of an answer, you may say “Well, I had Spanish, Math, History, and Science but for some reason I had no English homework”.
  3. All you have to do now is play it out and do nothing contradictory, for instance if you said you already mowed the lawn and you dumbly go outside and mow the lawn, that just killed your efforts to lie.

Tips for Success

  1. If you are being asked something straight in the eye, try not to avert your eyes. A smart lie detector can see when you avert your eyes. That’s why eye contact is so important. Never look down, to the sides, or blink a lot.
  2. Imagine what you would do if you WEREN’T lying. Maybe you would get all mad and start freaking. Try to imitate as best as you can what you would do if you weren’t lying, especially if you are being accused of something.
  3. Try to change the topic of conversation, for instance, if you are on a date and you get asked something that’d be embarassing if you told the truth, it is always good to try and change the topic, but don’t make it too obvious. This requires mastery of the skill of lying.

Well, I hope you all become great liars now.
