How to Choose a Movie on Friday Night
Friday night and stuck? Know you want to watch a movie, but don’t know which one? This article will help you narrow down your choices through a few simple questions.
Friday night? Need a movie to watch? Completely blank? If you and your friends are anything like mine, then this is a common scenario. Choosing a movie is a daunting task that many face every Friday night. But no fear! There is hope. By answering these simple questions you can easily narrow down and, with any luck, choose a selection for your beginning of the weekend fun.
Who will be watching?
If it is just you, then naturally you can choose whatever it is that you want to see. If there is a group of you, however, then it is necessary to take into consideration everyone’s preferences. Be sure to remember, also, that a group atmosphere is very different from a singular one. Meaning that even if you feel in the mood for a particular something, it may be something better enjoyed alone during another time than tonight with a group of your rowdy and most likely loud friends.
What genre are you in the mood for?
This is the most important question you can ask yourself when choosing a movie. Are you in the mood for thriller? Horror? Comedy? Romantic comedy? Romance? Drama? Action? Thought-provoking? If you know what you want out of a film, then you are much more likely to be able to effectively choose a movie you will enjoy. If it is not just
you, it is important to take into consideration what the rest of the group wants to watch, by way of democracy or whatever means you see fit. Also, be mindful of the fact that if there is a group of you, you most likely are going to want something that promotes a good time. A serious movie that takes your full attention may not be the best idea. Something light-hearted and entertaining might be a better choice.
Going out or staying in?
If you want to go out, then obviously your choices are much more limited than if you want to stay in. Staying in means you can watch whatever movie you own or that you can rent. The possibilities are endless. Going out means you must see whatever is in the theater at the time. Luckily, what is in the theater is generally what everyone wants to see, so finding something to watch is pretty easy. See the following two paragraphs for information on both of these options individually.
If you are staying in……Rent? Or Borrow?
If you for sure are staying in then you must also decide between renting and watching from a current collection. Often this is the difference between a new release (that you most likely don’t own and probably haven’t seen) and a classic (that everyone has seen, probably owns, and definitely enjoys).
