How to Enjoy Eating Out with a Baby
Many parents have encountered unpleasant experience in eating out with babies. It is hard to predict babies or toddlers who are unable to sit still for a while and may have tantrum or want to go around the restaurant at anytime during dinner. You will be probably busy with rocking, comforting or feeding them. At the end, it is hard for parents to enjoy the dinner and instead rush to eat as soon as possible with worse situation that it may probably result in indigestion. It seems it is time to say bye bye to nice meal when eating out with a baby. But it is not necessary to forgo this kind of enjoyment just because you are having a baby. Let’s do something to improve such situation.

Pick a baby-friendly restaurant
Spacious
You need to admit that there are fewer choices in restaurant selection but there are still plenty of such restaurants who are baby-friendly enough in order to attract the customer group like you as well as other parents with babies. Make sure the restaurant is spacious enough without tables too packed so that all of you and the baby can sit comfortably and the sufficient space can minimize the potential danger, such as spilling hot food and drinks.
High Chair
Check out the restaurant environment and ensure the seating is good enough for putting a high chair as well as a carrier. And check with the restaurant if there is highchair provided. But even if they do, suggest bringing your own travel highchair with the guarantee of cleanliness and safety.
Cozy atmosphere
Avoid very formal setting restaurants as you may receive so much hostile stares when your baby makes noise. On the other hand, don’t choose somewhere too noisy. Experience teaches me that babies do not like noisy atmosphere and they will easily get tantrum.

Prepare meals for your baby
If your baby is old enough to eat restaurant’s food, check out the menu if there is suitable food. If your baby is too small to have any suitable food in restaurant, it is better to bring along some food for her too. It is better to coincide your dining out with her mealtime or prepare some finger food or snack instead to distract them. Your little one is still not patient enough to sit still, waiting for you to finish the meal.
Bring along distractions
Your baby can easily get bored when eating out. Especially buffet can be disaster if you do not prepare well as it requires much more time that means more fidgeting possibly. Bring with some distractions, like toys or any household item your little one likes. Most babies like playing with tissue and paper. You may bring with a memo pad for them to play with. These distractions can keep your baby excited for ages without disturbing your meal.
Relax
Yes, relax. Don’t worry too much and enjoy every meal. Everything will be improving with more lessons learnt and your child growing up. Your child can gradually learn from you with good table manner and attitude in restaurants.
