How to Get Through the Day Without Screaming

Most of us have bad days. In fact, all of us usually have them every day. This is just a little something to help us get through them, well, hopefully.

You know that feeling you get as soon as you hear the constant beeps in the morning, every morning, early in the morning, too early in the morning. Well, I do. It’s that feeling of doom in the pit of your stomach, knowing that the best feeling of the day is going to be the moment you end up back in bed. You just wish that you could skip the middle part and stay snuggled up in your cozy haven of denial.

Unfortunately, there is no escape. It’s inevitable that the day will begin and there’s nothing that you can do to stop it from happening. Here are just a few pointers to help make the day more bearable…..

Make coffee, drink coffee, drink more coffee and pretend that it’s an antedote for the day ahead. If you don’t like coffee, drink tea or orange juice, or whatever you feel will numb your senses. It probably won’t have the same effect as coffee though, unless it’s alcohol. Although, let’s face it, if you’re considering the hard stuff that early in the morning then you have more problems than facing a day at work.

Take a shower. For one, it’s good to be clean. Secondly, you can hide behind the shower curtain, thus hiding from the day for ten to twenty minutes more. This is good advice unless you have a profound hatred for your work colleagues in which case showering is not a good idea. Why? Well, would you want to sit or stand close to someone who had severe odor issues? Exactly. Bingo!

Get dressed. As great as it would be to stay bundled up in your pj’s, unless you’re one of those lucky ones who gets to work from home, I would suggest that a more professional atire would be appropriate. Bright green frogs or luminous yellow ducks don’t really mix in an office environment, or a supermarket environment, or wherever it is that you work. I’ll say it again, unless you work from home, you jammy b%$£!@d!

Go back to the coffee now. Trust me, it’s necessary.

Now you will need to put some shoes on. Some sensible ones. Obviously, this is aimed at all the fashion conscious women out there. Heels may look good but not when you get one stuck in a grid and the contents of your handbag as well as yourself goes flying. Believe me, it does not look good and it certainly doesn’t feel good when people are laughing and pointing. All because you were rushing for the bus. Especially when you don’t even want to be catching a bus.
