How to Improve Your Communication Skills?

To get succeed in life you need to improve your communication skills in a systematic way in the right direction.

Irrespective of your age, sex and qualification, you need to be an adept in your communication skills. You may be tempted to ask why you should improve your communication skills. In this modern world, communication plays a vital role in your family, in your office and in the outer world. Therefore, in order to have an effective interaction with the outer world, you have to use the tools of communication very skillfully.

In your family, if you do not effectively communicate with your spouse and children, a communication gap may develop between you and your spouse or children, leading to the misunderstanding between you and your family members. In the result, it may even hasten the irretrievable breakdown of your marital life. In the end, you will miserably fail in your life. Lack of effective communication between you and your superior officer or your subordinates and with your colleagues may create many problems for you in your office in the day to day life, even from the most unexpected quarters. Similarly you have to effectively communicate even with third parties or strangers lest you may be labeled as a tactless fool.

The importance of communication is very much emphasized and taught among the student community, for they are the future leaders and citizens in this world. However, their immediate goal in achieving mastery or improving their communication skills is to find suitable employment for them. Moreover, democracy, the most successful form of government in this world depends upon the effective communication or interaction that takes place between the party leaders and the people during the election as well as during their governance.

The human civilization evolved, developed and became highly advanced and ultra modern, by using effective communication skills.

Means of communication may be classified into oral and written and in the modern days ‘visual’ means of communication has become more powerful and supplemented the other two forms of communication.

Improving Oral Communication Skills

Reading:

Since reading is the first and the foremost oral form of communication, you have to pay attention in improving your oral communication skills.To gain oral skill in a particular language, news papers and books in the concerned language may be read louder for a specific duration, say for a period of fifteen to thirty minutes or even more, regularly every day, which will help you to refine your skills in spelling and pronunciation, besides increasing your fluency in reading. Besides, if you want to have proficiency in a foreign language like English, French or German, you have to devote more time and engage in reading practice in a systematic and regular way to improve your skills.
