How to Make a Deal Meal
What is a deal meal all about? Let’s talk about what this means.
Image via Wikipedia
First talk to people who live in your household. Ask them if they could come to a meeting. Not just any meeting. A Deal a Meal meeting.
People deal hand of cards and hope for that perfect hand. Well! People can think of Deal Meals in the same way. This means people can shuffle and shuffle all their options that have been laid before them about whom, how, and when the next meal is going to be served.
Then, it’s time for communication to fit into this picture. One person only needs to talk at a time. Let each member of the family take their turn in telling about what they would like to cook. They may also talk about who else they may need in order to make this dinner a success.
Stay sitting and show respect for what an individual has just said. After all has been said and done it will be time to discuss who is cooking when. Remember you’ll have your turn soon enough. Give respect where respect is due. It maybe your turn tomorrow. You know you’ll want your due respect. Now show the person standing who is talking about his brilliant plan the entire God given respect this person deserves.
You could make a calendar and tell the eager participates that they’ll be names on this calendar stating who will cook when. If this seems to cause minor conflicts, tell the participates to talk to one another and strike a deal with one another. A deal that will please all people concerned.
Now that’s a Deal of a Meal.

This is great! I think it gives us lots to think about and not just when it comes to meals. We’re all so busy talking that we forget that listening is a big part of communication too.
Thanks for sharing!

This is a really good idea about meal communication and I think it is an effective way to curb any arguments regarding meals (that do happen a lot in my household anyway). Really nice stuff from you, yet again, Mrs. Heart!

This is a great idea. The respect factor is a great way to learn how to treat others with respect so they can also do it for you. listening to others is important too. good article.

But you’re going to need willing participants… I think I would have to beat my hubby and daughter into submission.

I really thought you were going to deal out cards and have the highest card pick the main dish, the next highest the side dish etc.
that would be fun seeing what kind of combination was served!

Sounds good for a family to share in the meal planning. Sad to say I’m the only cook in my house and it’s a good thing or we would end up with a cheese sandwich three times a day.

Good ideas. Sadly, the only people who’re old enough to cook in our house are my husband and me. I’m waiting for the kids to get older to stick them with some cooking.

A great deal of an idea. At least each one has the right what he wants to eat before having others their turn to choose.
