How to Overcome The Fear of Failure

So, what if I fail? Time and again this one question stops us to take action that can make our life better. In our society ‘Failure’ is such a word that nobody wants to hear. All the time we want to do things that comes with guaranteed success. Because of this thought, people stop to take any action that needs to be taken for becoming successful.

Fear of Failure is the greatest fear people have and this is our biggest enemy too. To us failure means rejection or criticism. We wonder about what others would think about us if we fail and this thought separates us from the society. This thought makes us inferior than the others.  But often we miss a point. The truth of the life is, no winner or achiever achieve their success without facing the failure along the way. Many great men were big failures in general life or in their specific field before they became successful and famous. Therefore, if we encourage the Fear of Failure then this will become a big obstruction towards the success of our life and we will eventually end up killing our dreams – without taking any action.

So the bottom line is, we should avoid the Fear of Failure to live our dreams and to be successful. Here are the five suggestions that you need to take to overcome the Fear of Failure.

Face The Fact – Be Ready To Accept The Failure

How often do we set so high a standard for ourselves but do not take any action just because we think about the failure all the time! We forget that without the failures there’s no success. Nobody can achieve success without facing the failures. We must remember that failures teach us to better ourselves. Each failure gives us some experience to do better next time. It’s a way of self-improvement. The law of life is, failure will ultimately take you to the success- only if you try. So be ready to face the fact that in your way to success there will be obstacles and failures. All you need to do is fight that out.

Engage Yourself In Fruitful Actions

Fear and any kind of negative thoughts spread rapidly in an idle mind. When we do nothing, we feel helpless and hopeless.  So it’s better to do something fruitful and encourage positive thoughts in our mind. Think about your success. When you’ll be a successful person, your family and closer ones will be proud of you. Remember nobody will notice you, if you quit.

Be Stubborn – Be A Fighter

Try to invoke courageous attitude. Be stubborn to beat the Fear of Failure. Fear will always let you down. Try to develop a never-say-die attitude, this will help you to fight against your fear and conquer it.

Be Confident – Persist To Your Dream

Don’t give up. Unsuccessful people try once or twice and after the initial failures, they give up. Remember success doesn’t come easily. You need to keep trying time and again, may be with a different approach and working with your experience. All the successful people are strong minded and great attempter; they keep trying until they find the desired result. So, believe in your ability, boost your confidence and do not leave your dream.

Meditate

I’m a great believer of meditation or Yoga. And believe me it does help to control your mind. Meditation can help to overcome fear. It’s an art to know our soul. If you meditate, you’ll find inner peace and your mind will be much calmer and full of positive thoughts. This certainly helps you to concentrate better towards your goal and overcome the Fear of Failure.

In the end, I want to say – we all make mistakes, small or big, but the biggest mistake would be if you don’t learn from your own mistakes and repeat it again. We all fail some time or other. Few failures don’t make your life a hell at all. Just feel the heat, feel the fear and Do It Anyway! Remember, it’s only You who can beat the Fear of Failure.

Excellent article and topic. I totally agree with you. Failure is a temporary thing that can stop someone from getting ahead.. From worrying about what others might think if you fail to what if I can’t accomplish the task at hand.. But a good strategy is to say: What is the worst thing that can happen to me? And nobody is born a genius. Read about Abraham Lincoln and you will see what I am talking about. “There is no success without failure.” Keep on pushing hard even if you fail and everyone has at some point and only then can you be on your way to success. So often, we use our thoughts to worry about things that haven’t even happened yet or use them to re-hash and re-live bad experiences..a vicious cycle that is very unhealthy. An interesting and thought-provoking write Sourav :-)

A very inspiring article. I must admit I lose confidence quickly if I fail at something. You have given me the incentive to try again.
    Good work.

I HATE failure, and I can never accept failure. I always play to win but this is a good article (especially for me) to keep me grounded and accept defeat when I have to. It keeps me prepared for it because if there’s one thing I hate – it is failing. It terrifies me. Nice refreshing read!
