Impossible is Only One Word
Often times people say they can not do something or it is simply impossible to accomplish. Little do they know that “Impossible is Only One Word”. Here are a few hints to get you started thinking in the right direction.
Have you ever viewed yourself as someone of importance? A person who people tend to look up to? Of course you have – in fact we all have at one time or other. These dreams of self importance have always been forefront in everyone’s mind. It is simply human nature.
You may fantasize about your position in your company or perhaps if you are young enough you might possibly daydream about being selected as the local homecoming queen. These dreams often have many different results such as you becoming rich, or developing a successful career or simply being happy in your various relationships with those close to you.
Unfortunately dreaming doesn’t always achieving the actual results expected. This is a sad but true situation but a part of reality.
I myself had dreamt of adventures in far away lands and of exciting activities associated with those adventures however these dreams were merely that – only daydreams. The bitter truth was that I would get up in the morning; dress for my boring position at the ABC Company and off I would go for another humdrum day at the office etching out my meager existence.
I then learned that this life of mine could be improved drastically if I only changed my goals to aim higher then what I currently do. The very word impossible acts as a shield to achieving goals and realizing dreams. How many times have you heard someone say “I can’t do that” or “It’s much too hard”, maybe you have recently overheard someone mention “It’s too impossible to complete. No one is capable of achieving this”.
Fortunately not everyone thinks in these terms and so our society has experienced an abundance of fine inventions and breathtaking accomplishments many I might add have occurred in my lifetime.
Scientists appeared to be baffled that the common bumblebee was able to fly for theory wise such a task was “Impossible”. No one had informed this humble bee that he could not fly and using it as a sample the Wright Brothers began to develop the first flying aircraft.
Let’s not go to the other extreme however where one would have aspirations which are so far outrageous that they could never develop a possibility of achieving them. These are the broken dreams that most people complain about.
Don’t burden yourself with needless self-doubt and limiting assumptions that you could never accomplish something. With an attitude such as this you will find it extremely difficult to break loose of the hindrance bonds which restrain you from achieving your goals.
As a simple exercise take a small slip of paper and make note of what your immediate goals are in life. Make several heading on the paper and under one of them list all of the skills that could contribute to achieving your goals. These are the various things which you definitely know you can achieve. Under a second heading list those things which you may be able to achieve and finally make a list of the impossible which you could never possibly be able to do.
Every day glance at your list and make note of things you have listed in the “can do” list. Check these goals off when you are certain that you can do them with confidence. After you complete the goals in this particular heading start upon the second section which is the “possible”. Once again when you are confident that you can do them all can then start on those goals under the “impossible” listing.
As you can see we started low and ultimately ended up aiming high towards the goals you stated were impossible. The point here is to accept these as small steps taken little by little until you can achieve that particular goal.
It was once considered impossible and merely science fiction to imagine that someday man would walk on the moon. What about sending email from the United states to China in a mere second. That would have drawn several laughs from those present when you mention that. These ideas did not just leap out and bite the inventor they were developed as a result of achievable dreams. These are the little steps which made your completed goal.
So I would encourage you to keep dreaming. Don’t let negative thoughts provide unnecessary limitations towards your final goals. The key here is to think big but work hard in your efforts to attain your dreams.
