Job Interview Questions
The economy is really bad right now so you want to ask the right questions in order to land a job. Here are some job interview questions I would like to share with you.
When you are on a job interview, it’s important to ask the right questions. You shouldn’t just sit there. You should ask the interviewer tough questions.
Here are some questions you can ask potential employers:
Why did the previous employee leave?
If the person was promoted, then there is a good chance that there is advancement in the position.
How long did the previous employee hold this position?
If the person held the position too long, it might be a sign that it’s a dead-end job. This question would benefit you if you are looking for advancement instead of staying in the same position.
What would a typical work day be like?
This would give you an idea of what you would be doing throughout the day. If you decide to accept the job, you wouldn’t be surprised by what you would be doing.
What is the atmosphere like in the office?
This will give you an indication of the stress level in the environment.
What is the company’s dress code?
This will give you an idea of how you should dress in the workplace. You don’t want to be dressed differently from everyone else. The last thing you want is to be overdressed or underdressed.
How would you describe your management style?
You can find out if he or she is tough or lenient with the employees.
How are employees recognized for their contributions?
If you would like recognition for your work, this question will let you know if you will get rewarded when you do a good job.
What is the likelihood of downsizing?
Sometimes companies have a last hired first fired policy. You should know before you take a job if it will last.
Do you offer opportunities for skill building and career building through training or continuing education?
This will be a way to find out if the company encourages you to get an education.
Here is what you should avoid asking during the interview:
- Salary
- Benefits
- Hours
Hopefully these questions will help you land the right job. Good luck with your interviews.

Goof to know–I’m the one that never asks questions during interviews thinking it was rude—–but now I know I can make them–thank you.

I used to do that too. Then a counselor told me that I should ask questions and the interviewer was impressed by my questions.

Very good information. Most of the time, I know a little bit about a job before I sign up for it and about how much they pay. I never think to ask more questions. Thanks for the wisdom.
